Super simple stovetop popcorn

I have been trying to make healthier swaps lately, and tonight I made homemade stovetop popcorn! No gross added chemicals and preservatives, it tastes amazing, and it's fun to make!

From the time I put the stove on to the time the last kernel popped, was probably less that 5 minutes - it cooks so fast and it's so easy! All you need is some olive oil (or any cooking oil you like, but I would suggest olive oil), 3 tablespoons of uncooked popcorn kernels, and butter! You can also add things at the end like spices, parmesan cheese or make is sweet with cinnamon sugar.

Step 1.)

Turn your stove on high and place you pot (with a lid) over the burner with 1 tbsp of oil and 3 tbsp of popcorn kernels.

Step 2.)

Place the lid on the pot, and let it heat up until you hear sizzling and popping. Mine cooked super fast so don't leave the stove! I used a medium sized pot - don't use one that is too small, or the lid will probably come off with an overflow!

Step 3.)

Watch it pop and give it a few shakes! I love the smell of fresh popcorn and the sound of it popping. It's so fun! Once the popping stops take your pot off the burner.

Step 4.)

Empty your popcorn into a big bowl and throw a few pads of butter into the pot while it's still hot and you'll have fresh melted butter. Then just add it to your popcorn and give it a toss. Add extra salt if you want! I have also added ranch seasoning before which was pretty good, and this time I added fresh parmesan cheese and some salt and pepper. There is just something about plain butter though - it never doesn't taste good.

Step 5.)

Enjoy!
